Studying a Diploma of Social Science will give you a strong grounding in key social science concepts, including social structures, human behaviour, cultural diversity, and social change, while developing practical skills in social analysis, communication, teamwork, and critical thinking. Graduating with a Diploma of Social Science will allow you to transition to second-year studies at Western Sydney University, Sydney City Campus, or pursue entry-level roles in human services, criminology, psychology, or related fields.

The Diploma of Social Science can be completed over two or three sessions. It comprises of core (mandatory) and elective units. Students will study eight units in total from the list below, which includes six core units and two elective units. The elective unit is dependent on articulation.

Using the Diploma as a stand-alone qualification will allow you to progress to entry level positions in a broad range of fields including Public Service, Support Workers (Disability, Aged Care, Out of Home Care), Youth Worker, Community Development Worker, Welfare Support Worker.
