1) When can I start my study at SIBT?
Students can commence their SIBT Diploma 3 times each year at either campus location. The next start date is 19th of October 2009, followed by 22nd of February 2010 and then 21 June 2010.

2) How do I apply?

You will need to fill this out, and also submit your highest academic transcript (translated into English), and provide proof of English. All documents also need to be certified by either your agent or by an official in the Australian embassy in your country. 3) How long will it take to receive an offer from SIBT?
It will only take 24 – 48 hours to receive an offer from SIBT.

4) What are the entry requirements for SIBT?
Entry requirements are country specific. Proof of English is also required. Please see further details at:

5) Do I need to take IELTS for entry into SIBT?
You do not need to take IELTS if you are from an assessment level 1 or 2 country, but you will still need to show proof of English. It is possible for you to take a Navitas English test at your agent’s office overseas.

6) How do I pay?
The same payment procedures apply for SIBT Diploma at Macquarie City Campus. Students can pay their SIBT fees to the SIBT bank account, or they can send a bank draft to SIBT, North Ryde. 7) Can I pay by credit card?
No. It is only possible to pay by bank transfer or bank draft (not personal cheque).

8) Are scholarships available at SIBT?
Yes, there are two 50% Navitas scholarships available per semester across both SIBT campuses. The payment will be made in the second semester for the final four units. Scholarships are only available for Diploma and not for Certificate IV in University Foundation Studies.

Another SIBT/Macquarie University scholarship is available to the highest graduating student from the SIBT Diploma. The awarded student will receive full payment of tuition fees for the remaining years at Macquarie University. Three are awarded every year.

9) What is the process to apply for a scholarship?
You need to be invited to apply for scholarship. Eligible candidates will have received 70% or equivalent in their final year of study and have a minimum IELTS of 5.5 or equivalent.

10) What happens at Orientation and do I need to attend?
Yes, you definitely need to attend Orientation as this is the day you will enrol in your units. You will also meet key staff at SIBT and be informed about the many free services available to you as an SIBT student. There will also be a BBQ and campus tour and the chance to meet future friends in your mentor guided groups.

11) Is it possible for me to study the Diploma across two campuses?
Yes, you are able to choose Diploma units in both Macquarie City Campus and Macquarie University in the same semester. The advantages of doing so include the possibility to experience different study environments, increased opportunity for part-time work and convenient travel to the city.

12) Will I go directly into second year at Macquarie University once I finish the SIBT Diploma?
Yes, you will go directly into second year at Macquarie University once you have finished your Diploma. Please note that Macquarie requires specific grade point averages for entry which vary for different degrees.

13) What is an Advanced Diploma and why would I study it?
The Advanced Diploma is an additional 4 units of study once you have finished the Diploma, and is equivalent to the first semester of second year at Macquarie University. Once you complete this you will go directly into the second semester of second year at Macquarie University. Students who finish their Diploma in October usually continue with the Advanced Diploma at SIBT, as the next Macquarie intake is not until February.

14) As an SIBT student, can I use Macquarie University facilities and join university programs?
Absolutely. As an SIBT student you are able to use all services and facilities at Macquarie University including the library and sports and aquatic centre. You are also able to join all clubs and societies (or form your own) as soon as you start at SIBT. You are also able to enter the Global Leadership Program in the second semester of Diploma.

15) If I am currently enrolled at SIBT Diploma, Macquarie University can I transfer to the City location?
You do not need to transfer from one campus to another. It is just a matter of choosing units at your preferred campus during enrolment and attending class at the chosen campus. You can only do this when choosing your units and not once semester has substantially commenced.

16) Can I study fast track at SIBT, Macquarie City Campus?
Yes, the same flexible options apply for the SIBT Diploma at Macquarie City Campus, as long as you meet the academic and English entry requirements.

17) Is the Advanced Diploma offered in the city?
No. The Advanced Diploma with SIBT is only offered at SIBT, Macquarie University.

18) Is the Certificate IV program offered at SIBT, Macquarie City Campus?
No. If you want to study Certificate IV you need to do so at the North Ryde campus.  However, Foundation is offered at MQC which articulates in to 1st year of a Bachelor degree at MQC.

19) Can I study the Diploma of Computing in the City?
If you are interested in studying the Diploma of Computing in the City please contact a student adviser for information about available units there.

20) If I am doing my Diploma at MQC, can I use the Macquarie University campus facilities?
Yes, SIBT students at MQC can use the services and facilities of the North Ryde campus.

21) If I graduate from the Certificate IV program at SIBT Macquarie University, can I study my Diploma in the city?
Yes.  Certificate graduates may choose to complete their Diploma program at either SIBT campus location. You will just need to choose all your units in the city when enrolling in Diploma if you prefer to study at this campus.

22) How and when do I transfer from SIBT into Macquarie University?
There will be information sessions at SIBT before you finish your Diploma, and you will receive instructions on how to apply to Macquarie online. There is a period over a few weeks that you will be able to apply online.

23) Can I study my Bachelor degree at Macquarie University or Macquarie City Campus when I finish my SIBT Diploma?
Yes. The most popular Macquarie University degrees are available at MQC including Bachelor of Business, Commerce, Commerce-Accounting, Commerce-Marketing and Arts in Media and Cultural Studies.
